Richard Woolnough from the Greensand Trust (above centre) thanked Jonathon Clarke from the Countryside Agency, Steve Burton (Garside), Paul Denver (Arnold White) and Tim Deal (Lafarge) from the mineral companies, tennant farmers Peter Shirley and David Venn, volunteers Bob Bennett, Geoff Aitchisen and Tony Green, and others who were all involved in creating the route.
The ribbons were cut by Beds County Councillor Rhys Goodwin and H&R P3 member Druuske Hawkridge (right). Rick Thompson and Clive Beckett from Beds CC also attended. Also present were Andy Courage from H&R Scouts and the Greensand Trust members Katharine, Rachael, Erika and Veronika. |

Much of the route was previously uncultivated field boundary and has had to be rotovated to remove the large amount of thistle and weed growth (left). It is hoped that regular use of the route will help to keep the weeds down.
Richard (left) with some of the rare plant species in the Sandhouse Reserve, currently fenced to stop the rabbits eating them all.
A Swift or Sand Martin and a Buzzard (below) flew overhead. |

Steve Burton (below centre), manager of Garside Sand in Eastern Way, demonstrates the sandstone sundial in Stockgrove park. The Greensand Trust then provided lunch at the Stockgrove Cafe.
