Veronika Bale of the Greensand Trust led a part of eight on a circular walk through Heath and Reach today. The walk mosly followed the map on one of three new leaflets published by the Sandpit Project, who work in partnership to develop the recreation and conservation opportunities provided by sand quarries and to raise awareness of the role of the sand industry in shaping the past, the present and the future of the area.

Monday, 3rd January 2005
P3's first walk of 2005 took place on a sunny and un-seasonably warm bank holiday Monday. A record turnout of 57 set off from the car park of the Cock Hotel at 10.00am.

We walked up FP1 (left). Walk leader Roger Owers pointed out significant landmarks that can be seen from the highest point in the parish (below).
