Jones Pit Path Opening

Dick Denton and Adrian Ellis (Conservation Manager of Cemex Angling) cut the ribbon to officially open the Jones Pit Path on a lovely sunny Tuesday 11th July. Otherwise known as Denton's Diversion, the new route, officially designated as a 'permissive path', means that it is again possible to walk from Heath and Reach to Woburn entirely by footpath - a feat not possible since the closure of footpaths due to sand extraction that began during WWII.

Veronika Bale's leaving do

Veronika is getting married and emigrating to Colorado, USA. A well-attended leaving do was held at the Leighton Town Council offices on Monday 3rd April 2006. A strangely hairly gentleman, who turned out to be Greensand Trust supremo Richard Woolnough, sung the praises of the Sandpit Project Officer who has been in post for the past three years. P3 presented a card in appreciation of the hard work she has put in to pit restoration in the village.
