Sunday 4th April 2004
Woburn 'Walk on the Wild Side'. Dick Denton shattered the attendance record with a total of 38 attendees for his P3 walk on a sunny but brisk April day entitled 'Walk on the Wild Side'. |

Starting at the car park opposite St.Mary's church (with its striking gargoyles on the tower) we set off through the Woburn deer park, past the safari park and then back through the village.
We walked past farm buildings which house the Woburn stud farm, past ornamental lakes and up the hill to parallel the road. You can appreciate how lucky we were with the weather from these shots. |

The deer, of which there are numerous varieties in the park, must have been quite concerned by the appearance of our large group. Some stayed to watch, then slowly walked off into the distance.
The group posed for a photo in front of one of Woburn's two massive lions either side of the main entrance to the wildlife park.
The group returned from the North end of the village past the Alms Houses. Much of the village was rebuilt after an extensive fire in 1720.
Lots more information on the walk can be had from Dick's Route Guide.
